Internet Connectivity

(and why it matters)

A good internet connection is a critical part of your business infrastructure. You no doubt rely on efficient and effective internet connectivity for email, VoIP, and Cloud services as well as access to the web. When it comes to the quality of your internet connection, VoIP is arguably the most sensitive service.

What is the right balance of cost versus performance?

It depends. It is almost always true to say that the bigger and faster your internet connection, the better, but there is a direct relationship between cost, speed and reliability.

Some things to consider:

Is your connection fast enough to support the number of users you have?

What would be the impact on your business if you lost your internet connection for a few days?

With the increase in home working, do your staff have decent connections at home?

Does your industry need to move around large amounts of data?

If you use Cloud telephony (or intend to in the future), does it make sense to spend the money you save on phones on a better internet connection?

What connectivity options do I have?

Most businesses have lots of options available to them, which can make the choice a confusing one. Worse still, products that look similar on paper are not necessarily created equal, and some may even perform differently depending on your geographical location. Broadly speaking, you have two options: broadband or leased lines.

We supply a wide range of broadband products, supporting all types of clients from small businesses to large enterprises. Options include ADSL (Asymmetric Digital Subscriber Line), FTTC (Fiber to the Cabinet), GFTTC (G.Fast), FTTP (Fiber to the Premises) and SoGEA (Single Order Generic Ethernet Access).

Larger businesses will require more bandwidth and better reliability than is offered by broadband. For this, we offer leased lines. Options include EFM (Ethernet First Mile), EoFTTC (Ethernet over FTTC) and FE (Fiber Ethernet).

We work hard to find the best option for you, depending on where you are based and the requirements of your business.

What about home workers or multiple sites?

Multi-site networks, whether those are offices, retail stores, or large numbers of home workers can provide a day-to-day challenge. In these cases, network design becomes an important consideration, above and beyond just access to the Internet.

There are multiple technologies that build on simple internet connections, like SD-WAN (Software Defined Wide Area Network), MPLS (Multiprotocol Label Switching) and VPN (Virtual Private Network), that can provide fast, reliable and secure business networks.

At PurpleUC we don’t just provide Internet connections, we have a Microsoft Tier 1 IT provider in the family, so we can design and build entire networks for you too.
